The police force in Changhua (a small county in Taiwan) seem to have very unorthodox methods in collecting evidence.

Two undercover cops, posed as customers, visited an “erotic snack bar” and played dice with two naked Vietnamese bargirls. The bet was that if the boys lost, they would pay NT$100 (US$3.41) but if the girls lost, the boys got to pluck a pubic hair off the girl with a pair of clippers. The cops lost 2 times and won 6 times.

After the cops had their fun, they arrested the two women. But in a controversial decision, the judge ruled that the women and the establishment they worked at did not violate decency laws. Therefore the two bargirls were innocent.

This story raises many questions like what level of indecency is required to violate the decency laws, did the cops really require that much evidence, what would the bargirls do when all their pubic hair is gone, but most importantly, is a bargirl’s pubic hair only worth NT$100?
